Ganderbal, Apr 03: A month-long stitching and tailoring training programme conducted by the 118 Battalion of CRPF concluded in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, with participants expressing satisfaction while also urging authorities to extend the duration of such courses.
A girl participant from Akhal village, while sharing her experience, said the free training programme proved highly beneficial but added that the one-month duration was too short.
The course should be extended to at least three to four months so that we can learn properly and benefit more,” she said, adding that such initiatives help women become self-reliant.
She further appreciated the CRPF for organizing the programme without any cost. “We are very thankful. We request everyone to participate in such initiatives to gain skills,” she added.
Commandant Sandeep of the 118 Battalion, Gund, said the training was conducted under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026 and saw the participation of 30 candidates.
“All participants worked hard and received training from skilled experts in stitching and tailoring. Feedback from trainees has been very positive,” he said.
He assured that the CRPF will continue to support such initiatives and extend assistance to participants who wish to pursue tailoring further. “The youth should come forward, learn skills, and contribute towards building a better Kashmir,” he added.
Highlighting the role of CRPF in the region, the Commandant said the force has been active in Kangan since 2008 and continues to work for both security and community development. He also urged locals to cooperate in maintaining peace and a positive environment in the area.
